Nick Smith – Operation Manager

Nick is the operations manager at Pacific Steam Carpet Cleaning. Starting in 2010, he has worked hard to build a reputation of integrity and quality that residents of Portland, Oregon can trust for their carpet and upholstery cleaning requirements. Andrew is also pursuing an engineering transfer degree at a local community college.

The Kind of Cleaning You Can Expect

We use a hot water extraction system recommended by all carpet manufacturers. This means using 230-degree water from a powerful truck mount vacuum to remove dirt from carpets and soiled high-traffic areas.

We also use an optional Rotovac 360i Rotary Jet Extractor with rotary vacuum heads to thoroughly clean carpets with hundreds of multi-directional cleaning passes. This is an excellent restorative cleaning process.

The typical cleaning method involves preconditioning the soiled surface with an alkaline (7 to 11 on the pH scale) agent. It is followed by light agitation with a grooming brush and appropriate dwell time.

Next, the surface is passed over several times with a cleaning tool (either manual or automatic) to remove the pre-conditioner with our free neutralizing rinse thoroughly. The surface is then dried completely to avoid saturation. This helps the carpets stay cleaner longer and extend the life of the carpet fibers.

Pacific Steam is IIRC Certified

The Carpet Cleaning Technician (CCT) certification is designed to teach the art and science of carpet cleaning to professional service providers and others in related industries. Emphasis is placed on practical application, identifying fiber, yarn, and carpet constructions, style types, and finishes, soiling conditions, cleaning science and methodology, and other issues and concerns faced by individuals who maintain and clean installed broadloom carpet. Upon completing the certification and additional on-the-job training, our technicians are adequately prepared to perform carpet cleaning techniques and procedures, including pre-inspection, fabric identification, basic cleaning chemicals and equipment, and proper cleaning techniques and procedures with a residential and light commercial emphasis.
